Stonequarry Reserve is bounded by Westmoreland Rd, Eagleview Road, Jersey Parade
and Townson Ave in the suburb of Minto. It is believed that the historic home,
Campbellfield, built for Dr William and Mrs Sarah Redfern in approximately 1811
may have been constructed from sandstone from the quarry in the reserve. McBarron
Creek runs through the reserve before it reaches Pembroke Park. (McBarron Creek
was named after Ed McBarron, a vet who undertook historical research in many fields
after his retirement, greatly adding to the collection of the Campbelltown and Airds
Historical Society.)
There are no amenities in this small reserve. It is secluded, although surrounded by
houses. It is best accessed via Kemp Place if one wants to keep feet dry or from
the Townson Rd and Jersey Parade intersection if crossing the small creek by stepping
stones causes no trepidation.
There are some beautiful old eucalypts in the Reserve which are homes to many
bird species. Butterflies and frogs may be present.
